9th-12th grade (2009-2010 school year)
The Senior High program at Whispering Winds is for grades 9-12 (grade completed), and has lots of old favorites, some new adventures and leadership development opportunities at a great new gathering spot designed for “big kids.” Whispering Winds is located near the Outdoor Program Center at TrailHead. Three platform tents, hammocks, a new worship site and a scattering of benches and talk spots in the woods all come together to create this new Senior High program site! This program is designed to push you to . . .
Dig deep and find answers to some of those tough faith questions.- Explore what it means to be a leader and how to use your gifts as a leader.
- Conquer all kinds of fears on the high ropes courses.
- Learn what it means to be a community. Examine your call and how you connect with others.
- Let the creative juices flow. Choose an area of specialty and spend the week developing skills in that area. Choose: pottery, woodcarving or darkroom photography.
- Be an adventurer. Focus on the night sky using the telescope, paddle down the creek, master the levitation platform (high ropes course) and whip up a feast using the dutch oven and tin can stoves.
- Give to others through special Whispering Winds service projects and by working with the younger campers at TrailHead.
- Write your own creed, song or responsive reading. Plan and lead worship.
The program at Whispering Winds is designed for fun and friendships that will last for a lifetime. Enjoy silly songs and games that will make your sides ache from laughter, late night talks, water fights, swimming, boating, water olympics, story telling, and so much more. Campers will live in platform tents with five or six other campers and a staff member. Space is limited to only 18 campers each week. Whispering Winds is for campers in grades 9-12.
