Summer Camp volunteers are needed to assist with...

Sunday afternoon registration

Each Sunday, throughout June and July, around 200 campers and their families decend upon Carol Joy Holling Camp. Volunteers are needed to help with the check-in process from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Special needs volunteersImage

Help make camp a reality for youth and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Assist with creative arts, Bible Study, worship, games, songs, hay rack rides, fishing, boating and more.

When: On-going events throughout the spring and summer. 5 hour day programs or 24 hour overnight programs.

Skill: No previous experience required. Training is required. 

ImageNursing

Choose a week during June or July. 

Volunteer RN’s are needed to help out our health care staff.  With the large amount of kids on site each week we need to have an RN on site all week long.  Each volunteer is asked to commit to at least one week. Volunteers will receive housing and meals for the week. And they are invited to send one kid, either their child or grandchild, to camp for free and any additional children or grandchildren for a discount.


Qualifications:
-    RN
-    Peoples skills
-     Love to be around kids

ImageFishing

Either one hour a day or a few hours a week, June 4 - July 27

Campers, each summer, enjoy fishing in Carol Joy Holling Camp's Crystal Springs Pond, and NLOM is happy to provide fishing equipment for them to use. Volunteers are needed to help with the care and upkeep of the fishing equipment. 

Qualifications:
-    Some fishing background
-    Love of fishing
-    Servants heart
-    Experience with fishing poles helpful

ImageBlue Bird Trail

About 1 hour each week, March - September

Campers use our many trails to get from place to place at camp. Volunteers are needed to help monitor and maintain theses trails.  Task will require moderate walking.

Outdoor Education

NLOM offers outdoor education programs for all ages of campers. Volunteers are needed to work with the Summer Staff in guiding these programs - hiking, stargazing, games, and many other outdoor activities.

ImageGardening

A few hours each week, June & July

Carol Joy Holling Camp's Food for the Hungry Garden produces hundreds of pounds of produce each year. The food that this garden grows is donated to area food pantries. Volunteers are needed to help maintain, water, weed, harvest, deliver vegetables to area food banks. Gardening Experience would be helpful.

As a member of the Prayer Team, you are asked to remember in prayer one of the more than 60 Summer Ministry Team Members. You'll be sent a brief biography of the person and an update during the summer. As a prayer partner, we also invite you to send your assigned staff member notes of encouragement throughout the summer.

June 3 - July 26.  • Monday through Thursday, 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. (times may vary)
Choose a day and time that you will be responsible for each week.

Volunteers needed to help feed and care for horses during the summer. Come for a few hours one or two days a week and help groom, feed, and tack to help get horses ready for campers to ride.
or help to feed horses and small animals on the weekends.

Qualifications:
-    Experience around horses
-    Experience grooming and tacking

After a full week of Carol Joy Holling Camp fun, families arrive again to pick up their campers. But first they get to experience a taste of what their campers did at the closing program. 

CJH Pottery Specialist

June 3-July 26 • Monday 9:30 a.m.- 9 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday (times vary)
Choose a week or two, or come all summer!

One to two volunteers a week are needed to assist campers with projects. Volunteers will provide inspiration and encourage creativity with campers in grades 1-12. Volunteers would need to have pottery experience and experience with firing/kiln. Volunteers would be needed to place pottery into the kiln either on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning and monitor the temperature and follow procedure for getting pottery ready for kids to paint. Some kids will prefer to glaze their pottery which would need to be done Thursday so they are able to take home their creative arts on Friday.
