Counselors
Help a group of 5-9 campers plan and implement their daily program while providing continual support and supervision. Lead devotions, prayer, worship and Bible study. Serve as a positive Christian role model for campers by listening, teaching and spending time in the outdoor setting. Previous experience working with school age children is required. Counselors live with campers.
Health Care Staff
Carry out the physician approved NLOM Health Care Plan. Review health care records, assess needs, keep daily logs of medications and treatments, care for the sick and injured and complete required reports. Responsibilities also include maintaining health care facilities, inventory of supplies and parent connections. Must be at least 20 years of age. Prefer LPN, RN or nursing student with previous health care experience.
Naturalist
Teach care and stewardship of God’s creation through environmental awareness activities, hikes, trail maintenance and outdoor living skills. Serve as a resource for campers and staff encouraging the exploration of God’s creation.
Wranglers
Teach basic western horsemanship including ground school, riding in the arena and trail rides with 4th-8th grade campers, at Carol Joy Holling Camp. Care for herd of 30 horses and a variety of small animals plus maintenance of the barn, riding areas, tack and other equipment. Keep appropriate records on horses, riding schedule and performance. Wranglers must have certification or other documented horsemanship training/certification. Help with certification is available through NLOM. Also looking for weekend volunteers to assist with feeding, care and grooming horses.
Lifeguards
Lifeguard at the pool and lake. Supervise, teach and maintain swimming and boating activities (kayaks, canoes and paddleboats) including special events and off site aquatic activities. Responsible for the care and maintenance of the pool, lake, aquatic equipment, shower house and surrounding area. Must have current First Aid, CPR and Red Cross Lifeguard certifications.
Site Coordinators
Provide support and supervision for staff. Coordinate all aspects of the summer program including special site specific programs, volunteer support, maintenance of facilities and inventory of supplies. Serve as a spiritual leader and role model for staff encouraging others to grow in faith and strengthen their leadership skills. Responsible for the health and safety of all program participants. Prefer individuals that have served at least two summers on the NLOM Summer Ministry Team and have previous supervisory experience. Must be at least 20 years of age with a current driver’s license and good driving record.
Adventure Program Staff
Adventure programs include high element ropes/challenge courses, Co-Op program with low elements and initiative games, backpacking and off site mission trips. Work with campers on stewardship projects, hikes and other adventure oriented on-site programs. Live with a group of campers. Previous experience working with challenge courses is expected.
Communications Assistant
Assist with video, photography, press releases, special events, communication with camper parents, maintaining the camp store and other marketing and communication projects.
Gardener
Oversee daily care of the Food for the Hungry garden. Educate campers about hunger awareness and gardening skills. Coordinate delivery or pickup of garden produce with local volunteers on an as-needed basis. Horticultural or gardening background preferred.
Creative Arts Specialist
Serve as teacher and helper with campers as they participate in the creative arts program. Store and monitor supplies, making sure supplies needed for projects are available in advance. Involve campers in clean-up and proper storage of supplies and equipment.
Service Project Coordinator
Organize and store supplies for camper service project. Serve as teacher and helper to summer staff and campers as they participate in the annual summer program service project.
Food Service Assistant
Assist with meal preparation including cooking, baking, cleaning vegetables and prep work. Assist with clean-up following each meal. Assist food service management team in keeping inventories and ordering supplies. Must have a current driver's license and good driving record. Assist Site Coordinators at site you are assigned to.
